The Counselors InstituteThe Business of Law

A faculty-led institute for solo & small-firm attorneys

You were trained to practice law.
You were not trained to build a firm.

The Counselors Institute teaches the seven systems of running a law firm, the business your legal education left out, in a twelve-month curriculum led by attorneys and specialists who have built firms themselves.

Applications reviewed on a rolling basis for the Founding Cohort. This is an application, not a checkout.

The curriculum

Marketing is one system. Your firm is seven.

Most programs sell you a single tactic. The Spine is the whole structure, taught in sequence, because a firm that is strong in one system and absent in the others still falls over.

01

The faculty

The faculty is the curriculum, not decoration.

No single attorney has built every kind of practice, mastered every way of finding clients, or run a firm at every stage. The Institute assembles faculty who have each solved a different part of the problem, and asks them to teach the system they actually built.

§
Founding Faculty

Firm foundations and practice model, from a board-certified attorney who built a firm from the ground up.

Founding Faculty

Client acquisition and reputation, taught by a practitioner who built a referable, marketing-led practice.

Founding Faculty

Finance, pricing, and profitability, from an operator who runs a firm by its numbers.

Founding Faculty profiles are published as each member’s participation is confirmed.

The Resource Library

Eleven volumes, mapped to the systems.

A shelf of bound reference volumes in navy, oxblood, and parchment bindings

A companion library that turns each system into the checklists, templates, and worked examples you keep and use long after the cohort ends.

Beyond the curriculum

You are not meant to do this alone.

Monthly faculty Q&ABring the real problem in front of your firm this month and work it through with faculty, live.
A peer communityFirm owners at your stage, solving the same problems, without the noise of a public forum.

The Founding Cohort

This is an application, not a checkout.

We open a limited founding cohort and review each application for fit. If the timing is not right, the firm health assessment will show you exactly where to start on your own.
